UPDATED!! Another Santa Cruz Warhammer Give Away!

Check out the wonderful resin model we received from Fenryll, to give away in the Original Santa Cruz Warhammer Give Away! This model is an amazing Daemon in a 40K style design with great detail and wonderful conversion options. The model rivals the Forgeworld quality we all love. It stands about 55 mm high.
Here's a picture of a painted version of this model, which Fenryll calls a Bio Tech Horror. It's listed on their website under Science Fiction.
The paintjob looks like something done by GW in the 80's and the model can be painted up much better and less cartoony, the detail on the resin is incredible. It screams of conversion.

Update:
Here are some images of the unpainted model we are giving away. The paint job is throwing readers off and the shot from Fenryll doesn't really show much of the model:

This Bio Terror is kind of a 40K version of this Putrid Terror, a Fenryll model I completed about a month ago. Here's that post
John used some Fenryll's carnivorous plants creatively to create a great Nurgle powerfist. Here's that post
I am always on the lookout for smaller design companies that can give our hobby extra color. My advice to all of you is that whenever you see a great model that you just love, buy it and think about how you can use it in any of your armies. If you can't come up with something, put it away. The time will come that you will know what to do. I have hundreds of models stored away and look at them regularly to see if it tickles my current fancy.

So, it's time to get your comments in and vie for this awesome prize. Two rules:
1. become a follower so we can notify you of our posts and coming Give Aways (at least 7 more are guaranteed)
2. leave a comment, maybe some feedback that Fenryll could use for future design.

Good Luck!
John and Mike

  2. I agree with your take on the model. The first picture really doesn't seem to do it justice. It appears as though you could pretty easily do a Khorne or Nurgle or maybe even Tzeench conversions. Khorne would be about the paint job ... perhaps give him a big axe or glave, nurgle is depicted in the second picture decently, Maybe give him more girth and some erupting boils, etc. Tzeench ... perhaps add some tentacles, and more mutative elements. I think Slaanesh would be pushing it and require more scratch work than would probably be worth it. Honestly if one really really wanted to do some kit basing and greenstuff work it could even be used for an ork warboss, that is what I though when I looked at the first pic of the model. The way the head is sclupted, etc. one would probably have to model it in mega-armor to cover up the demon-ish bits, etc.

As for constructive criticism I think that doing up generic demons that are somewhat compatible with the GW range for any mini company out there is a good idea. I think the comment about the paint job is reflective of the sclupt a bit ... it is slightly cartoony/clownish .. still cool though. Perhaps go for a slightly darker look, more muscular and evil looking. A more aggressive pose perhaps.

  3. I am really liking Fenryll's stuff. I actually picked up one of the demons that you converted to Nurgle and am planning on doing the same. The detail is incredible on these guys. And the price is just gravy!

  4. I'm not a fan of the paintscheme, and that goes a long way in making a model seem attractive, but it definately looks like it's got alot of potential.

  5. A model like this would certainly get the creative juices flowing and make you think outside the box a little for what it might be. An Obliterator comes to mind!

  6. Not sure where it would fit with my collection, but it would be cool to paint, if nothing else.

  7. Agreed with the others, the paint is somewhat distracting, but if the other two photos are anything to go on, this model has a ton of potential ^_^.

  8. i think an awesome idea would be a nurgle dp like that awesome one that you mentioned except instead of it having legs its sort of on like a monowheel. Just a suggestion :)

  10. I like the model, but for a conversion, I would saw the legs off and add a set of power armoured or terminator armoured legs and then blend the two aspects together with some green stuff using a fine tipped rubber sculpting tool. I would then add one shoulder pad and that would really make this model a stand-out Obliterator, particularly for my Death Guard army!

  11. They have some really nice SF and Post Apocalyptic models. I think I might use some of them for my necromunda collection. Now when most of Necromunda models are out of production any SF/PA good loking model is good to repleace some GW minis.

  12. This is a beatiful model, as always it is a style so amazing that GW wont touch. I love the model but I think that it is a tad bulky. Good luck everyone! (But we all know I will win, hopefully).

  13. Excellent sculpt, the face has a lot more character than the stock GW daemons!

  14. If I ever started a Chaos army, I would go with Nurgle. Not for gameplay or anything, I'm a fan of the modeling opportunities. This guy would give me some incentive to do so.

  15. I agree with most of the others here that the sculpting is excellent.

My criticism would be of the style of the model itself, especially the face. I don't like it when a model has it's tongue sticking out to the side like this. To me, it makes the character seem less evil or angry, and more stupid or oafish.

This is just my opinion, and again, the quality of the sculpting is top-notch.

  18. Great model. Fenryll allways do incredible miniatures... Maybe its time to do a dwarf zeppelin or big machine...

  19. omg this is a brilliant miniature and would go really well as a nurgly daemon or could be used in a game of space hulk but would go really well with a green paint job a mix of rotting fless and knarloc green or something
