I did a test model for these guys a while back, you can see him here.
Sometimes it takes me a real long time to go back and make more of the test mode4ls and build a unit from them, so I have been making an effort to finish up some of the older projects, so here is the finished 9 man squad.
These are recycled Catachan with Pig Iron heads and Cadian arms. Orange jumpsuits were painted over Yanden Darksun foundation, flak vests are OD with highlights.
Here is a Penal trooper with an Ardwick 23rd trooper, I think that the different bodies and heads still look good together.
I really like the use of catachan bodies with cadian arms, as it provides for a nice effect rather simply. The gas mask heads are nifty as well, but it seems weird that prisoners would get more protection than the average soldier (though I s'pose they could be looked more as torture devices than protective ones).
ReplyDeleteOverall, that's a nice looking squad you've got there.
I would say that the devices are to keep tabs on the "recruits" ... but awesome combinations of bits ...
ReplyDeleteGreat Work
I added a pic of the regular Ardwick troop to show them together.

Oh gotcha. Yeah, it keeps a consistent thread throughout the army. Very cool then.
ReplyDeleteI love the WWI look of these Ardwick guys. The Penal Squad seems to fit-in & stand-out at the same time; well done, sir.
ReplyDeleteLoved your selection of bits! It's a nice combination the catachan bodies with the cadian arms.
ReplyDeleteVery nice work!
I do like them. they really catch the eye.
ReplyDeleteVery cool models, as always ;) ..
ReplyDeletelol, figured that the gas masks were providing them with 'slaught' or some other mind controlling substance.
