An OOP Grey Knight Terminator dropped in: a Give Away!

A wonderful reader sent me an email a while back, noticing that one of my Bishkek 2nd Guard Squads was made purely out of models from the 1994 range. But he noticed I was missing the flamer guy. So he sent me the missing model as a gift, which was supernice. When I opened up the package there was another model in it: an OOP Grey Knight Terminator from 1991!
Those old things look amazing (bolter on the forceweapon) and I enjoyed painting him up, although I did stuggle with it a lot. Here is the model:

The Teminators from way back when were smaller, here's a comparison with a modern Space Marine:

I would love to find a home for this guy, hopefully there will be a reader who loves oldschool termies or needs more bodies for his/her new GK army. So i want to send him off to a good home.

If you want him, leave me a comment, humour us by following us, better yet, ALSO contribute some PayPal to Heroes of Armageddon (but you don't have to for this Give Away but if you can you should) and I will draw a number! The winner is of course allow to strip my modest paintjob and start again!

And I leave you with my miniatures cabinet, which is getting too full..

Let me know

Mike

  1. I love the old Termie models for the Grey Knights.
Hard to find any these days that aren't super expensive.

  2. The old style terminators had so much flavor. And the paint job is quite impressive.

  3. A while back, I bought a pack of some 20+ old school GK terminator arms and weapons, that I've been using to give my Gks as unique look. Even the Black Reach Terminators, with a proper head modification, look great with one of the old school halberds. The effect ends up being a GK army that has a lot of mixed armor, but that fits perfectly with the idea of Termi armor having some history behind it, and each new battle brother 'becomes' the men who fought before him.

Pick me, and I'll give him a good home. Probably as a Paladin, as I've been trying to give them the good slots! *laugh*

  6. Man, that guy looks better than he ever did when I had him, I should have sent you the whole squad. You are to modest about the paint job, by the Emperors Golden Commode, he looks great!

  7. Nice fig to giveaway - count me out as there are better homes but just wanted to say the rocky base really does a good job making him "fit" even though he should probably have seemed a bit small on a 40mm - good work man.

  9. I've been trying to start up a collection to play, but sadly have only finished painting 3 out of the 20 that I have. One day though...
This would be great to start me off!

  10. Ooh! I love the older terminators, I've got a couple myself from the early '90s also, this would be a great addition (provided you're happy to mail to Australia)!

  11. I wish that my "great" painting looked even half as good as your "quick" paintjob. this would be sweet to win so i could give it to my friend. maybe it will convince him to start playing again.

  12. Oldies are almost always great keepsakes. With only a few more of these I could actually play a game with all OOP Grey KuuuuuhNigUtsss

  13. That would be awesome to win! Fingers crossed! :)

  14. If I win this will be my first of hopefully many miniatures.

  15. Funny you put that up. I was cleaning my hobby room up today and found a group of 4 in a plastic bag. The older models look more ornate and elegant, like something that would be handed down.

  16. The old Grey Knight Termy was the first GW mini I ever owned. It just looks awesome. I still have a couple, one still in blister. I may have to revisit my Way Back Wednesday articles and paint him up. Nostalgia!

  17. The old model looks crazy awsome. I am definitely intrested in owning a space marine squad and getting into the table top wars. I'd say keep the paint job when you give it away.

  19. Grey Knight Termnators were some of the first models I ever bought for 40k, back in the early 90s. I wish I still had a squad of them to work in with my current force!

That's quite a minature show case!

  20. A classic, given a classic treatment.

And ye gods, man! That cabinet!

  21. Nice work (despite your protestations). I have an old-school Grey Knights-mad friend who'd love this!

  23. There's just something about the older GK terminators that puts them head and shoulders above the new ones. They're just so much more individualized and gothic somehow .

  24. That GK terminator is so godly painted. I can only dream to be half as good as you. Im just now starting a GK army myself. This terminator would be the absolute centerpiece of my army if I got him.

Id give him his own backstory too just cause he is so awesome!
