I haven't played a game in 7 or 8 months now and it seems pretty unlikely that I will any time soon. The modeling part gives me so much more then the game, and being able to do a little bit every day right before going to bed, makes my day. And nothing made me more happy then the new BA models. I got the codex a week ago from a local store and have been marveling at it ever since. To me it's the best codex GW has produced in a long time. The new rules make the BA very, very strong, but I don't care about that part any way; the models are absolutely splendid. So splendid that I have decided to put together a little BA club, so I can model for another year on it or so. The Ork Fighta Bomma has just been traded for a bunch of cool BA models and I am looking forward modeling and painting some of the new and amazing models.
I doubt they will see the battle field any time soon, but I am convinced the journey is worth more then the destination. Here are some of my favorite BA models (sculpted by my favorite sculptor Juan Diaz):

And then there is Moriar the Chosen, the Death Company Dreadnought. I wonder, has there ever been a dedicated model made for him?
Don't worry too much about rules, just do some painting!

I am with you on this. The BA models as just fantastic. These might get me to game more often!
ReplyDeleteAgreed, they are beautiful models. However, not wanting to start yet ANOTHER army (already doing Orks and Guard in 40k let alone anything else) I've decided to paint some up just for the pleasure of doing so.
ReplyDeleteI did make an oversized chess board so I can play on it with warhammer/40k models... this could be the first chess army I make :o)
Agree - these are great models and while I don't really play the game I have picked up a bunch of stuff to paint. (Not that I need more to paint, but the sculpts were simply irresistible.)
ReplyDeletewow, an oversized chessboard. Now that's a cool idea!

ReplyDeleteYeah, the top of an old kitchen table that the legs had broke on. It's 2' x 2' allowing me to do squares 2.5" square. Large enough for a monster base for the primary pieces! It's gravel all over painted brown, with the light squares made up by grass squares.
Right now I'm thinking basic blood angels for the pawns, a couple of devastators (each base) on heavy weapon bases for the rooks, assault marines/death guard for knights, sanguinary guard for bishops, then the sanguinor and astorath for the king and queen respectively.
It's a nice outlet for me to paint forces/models I wouldn't normally get the chance to paint, without feeling they're just ornaments from then on - at least this way there's a use to them in mind! :oP
Ginge: make sure to show some pictures of that!

They'll go up on my blog http://needmoretanks.blogspot.com/ as and when I complete bits... They are competing with several other projects, though as I've just finished my Tale of Four Gamers project and am still in the planning/test model stage of the next army project I want to do, this could be the perfect time for them :oP
ReplyDeleteBA minis are über cool..!
