Hey, here's another Santa Cruz Warhammer Give Away, aimed at all you creative modelers who like to support the independent and creative little companies that give our hobby extra color. This time, as promised, Dragon Forge Design donated a great set of resin bases. Here are the goodies
10 25 mm urban rubble bases. In this post, John used the base with the cogs, 3rd from the left, top row.
1 40 mm urban rubble heroic base.
1 60 mm urban rubble base
I am not selling out when I say that Dragon Forge makes some truly awesome resin bases. They are very clean, creatively laid out, extremely detailed and have no flash to clean up. Although they are not the cheapest base out there, the quality delivered and the joy working with them makes up for that.
And as with all our Give Aways, we buy products incognito to check them out and model with it. Here is the 40 mm base I used for one of my Mech Rough Riders. I bought this base ages ago and sat on it until the time was right to use it.
Here are the rules to try and win this cool set:
1. become a follower
2. leave a comment. The companies that we try to promote really dig the comments, as it brings them in direct contact with the customers. Let them know what you think in these comments.
In 3 days we will use a random number generator and pick the happy commenter. We will ship it for free to the winner!
NEW!
Dragon Forge wants to give everyone a chance on a prize! If you place on order on his website and in the comments of your PayPal payment mention Santa Cruz Warhammer, you get a FREE GIFT! Jeff from Dragon Forge told us he will add a free something to each order that's coming from this Santa Cruz Warhammer Give Away. This promotion will go on for one week starting today!
OK, let's have at it!
Later added: some commenters have concerns about international shipping of products, let's say to Malaysia or Europe. Jeff at Dragon Forge added a post on his blog about these concerns. Click here for that info!

ReplyDeletemy kudos to both the dragon forge team for a quality product and to you santa cruz warhamer for a great idea in promoting a gaming company.
ReplyDeletei wish id live in a place nearer to you so i could participate.
thanks for the info any way.
Wow, those bases are awesome, exactly what I was looking for, for my Sword Brethren conversion I've been working on. If I don't win might just have to go check out the site.
ReplyDeleteOne of these days I will get a job that lets me buy everything I see that looks cool... But until then, Ill have to budget these for my next army. :)
ReplyDeleteI usually prefer to make my own bases.scenery - mainly because the cast ones often look flat and generic.
ReplyDeleteI can honestly say these are the first I've seen that I'd consider using, they look wicked.
Many props to Jeff and his company! Having had a chance to take a seminar with him at last year's Chicago Games Day and having seen his work in person, I don't think it's at all understatement to say he's a true artist and a pillar of the hobby community.
ReplyDeleteIt's great of you guys to promote his work like this!
Wow, annuver give away and another cool looking product!
ReplyDeleteThose really are some great bases!
Those bases are awesome. I think I may have to grab some for when I do my Guard Veterans.
ReplyDeleteExcellent product Dragon Forge and great idea Santa Cruz Warhammer.
- Courtney @ Cadian 127th
Very nice as always, I still havent tried the resin bases though I might order some of these.
ReplyDeleteThose Bases are sooo awesome. I like how the 40mm base is a little more elevated, making those terminators stand out on the battlefield.
ReplyDeleteLove the blog, keep up the good work! It's one of several I use to keep myself motivated. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for a contest. I've been looking at a lot of resin base companies for my rogue-trader era SM army.
ReplyDeleteDragonForge have some of the coolest bases available. Their prices are very reasonable, and from what I can tell, the quality is probably better than your average resin base.
Very nice urban bases, I will have to order some and check them out in person...
ReplyDeleteI really like the urban style bases, most companies make them a generic rubble with some cogs or piece of metal. Dragon forge does to but their urban heroic is a first and I like it, not practical for the foam case but will defiantly win basing and painting contests
ReplyDeleteYay, next give away competition
ReplyDeleteBases look great, the chance is small but I'm glad that I haven't had time to glue my vets to bases.
Good Luck and sorry for my English ;)
wow those bases are awesome. I cannot seem to get anything like that over here in New Zealand.
ReplyDeleteMy Imperial Infantry would look totally sweet crawling over those bases.
And the big one + my thudd guns and heavy mortars = DROOOOL
These base are going to look so good on my city fighters
ReplyDeleteAlways loved resin bases, but they're hard to come by in Malaysia.
ReplyDeleteAll of us either have to make our own bases or get buddies to bring them back from overseas.
I've been following this blog for a couple of weeks, and the stuff you guys churn out is absolutely amazing. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThose bases are brilliant, the detail is amazing. I may very well order some for my commanding units and heavy weapon teams. Keep it up, Dragonforge!
Hi guys,
ReplyDeleteI found Dragon Forrge about a week after I started gathering my Sm army (about 3 months ago). I have several of the Wasteland II line and am totally blown away by the detail. And the fact that he asks his patrons what they would like to see him do next.
Another thing I love about Jeff's shop, the postage. small orders to the US are $2.70 while the largest are $5.00 or free. Overseas, Max postage is $5.00 USD, how can you go wrong with that.
Oh yeah, Mike, John, I will try to send a picture of my attempt at a Mechanicum Roughrider/Skitarii once I get it based.
Good luck to all.
I've got some of these and they are as good as described. Cheers Dragonforge!
ReplyDeleteThese bases are really great. Urban style bases are my absolute favorite! The one issue I have with resin bases though is that if one was to use them for their entire army, then there would be a problem with visual repetition, since probably a couple troopers will have the same bases.
ReplyDeleteBut hey, I'm working on an Urban themed Tau army right now, so those would look pretty nice for my Firewarriors!
I love Dragon Forge bases. I have bought several sets of the Desert Wasteland and Wasteland 2 that I use for my Orks. I have been really impressed with the quality of these bases.
ReplyDeleteThe dragon forge bases look great and are definitely in contention when I finally decide to bite the bullet.
ReplyDeleteGreat bases. The amount of detail you can get from resin casts is simply amazing, and I love the variety of Dragonforge's range!
ReplyDeleteThey look great!
ReplyDeleteI've just bought my first resin bases the other day and was really surprised at how easy it is to get them looking great!
If I can give some advice - make a set with some kind of eldar/elves runes or Egyptian glyphs. In fact you can just extend current RBAR line to do this.
ReplyDeleteI already tried resin bases from 2 companies (UK and New Zealand) and both make very decent products. So, with this promotion now, I'm going to give a chance to DF, especially that I need some of those tubings they sell.
Jeff's been making some great bases for a while. He's also made some really sweet base inserts for Wyrd as well. Inserts instead of 30mm lipped bases are always appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThese look great, I've never bought resin bases before, but I'm seriously considering ordering a set of these.
ReplyDeleteMan, I kinda wish I could comment twice or more just to win those bases.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm currently looking for a resin cast supplier to provide in Malaysia. *wink wink*
I'm still doing a little survey on all the companies, no doubt Dragonforge has my attention now...
Loving the contest and the bases!!!
ReplyDeleteDude I never win anything, so you need to send me a prize ;-)
ReplyDeleteI went to Dragon Forge's website, these bases look great, I have defintaly thought about trying out a set one some of my models.
ReplyDeleteA big thanks to you Santa Cruz Warhammer for again promoting a smaller gaming company.
ReplyDeleteThese bases are awesome. The Parched Earth base set are another awesome one. They would be great for a DH army. These would look great for my ork army ;)
I have never used pre-cast resin bases, but these look really cool. I bet they would work great with the Pig Iron minis.
ReplyDeleteWow, nice bases!

ReplyDeleteAnd some eldar-ish/elvish runes/rubble would definitely be cool as well as Magiler said above.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing these reports on materials from smaller shops and manufacturers. For bases particularly, I am looking forward to finding one or two excellent producers to stock up on in preparation for my next army. Dragonforge and Back2Base-IX (out of Australia) both get fantastic reviews, and I am amazed by the quality and detail put in by many of these manufacturers.
ReplyDeleteTime to start switching bases!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose are some excellent bases, I just bookedmarked their site and am heading back over there after I post this.
ReplyDeleteThank you for bringing them to the our attention.
Ok i have decided that after mike's push i should not only start following Santa Cruz, but also create a new blog from the lone Guatemalan player.
ReplyDeleteThe Dragonforge bases are pretty sweet. I have a few of the Broken Wastelands bases and they are very top notch. Look for them to be featured heavily on the Nurgle Daemon Army I will be starting to post soon on my Blog: http://BloodandBlades.blogspot.com shortly.
ReplyDeleteAs for your Blog, while I may not have been an actual follower I have you on the Blog list on my Blog and have been following yours for several months now, keep up the good work.
awesome! those are the best bases ive seen yet i hope they make some lava bases, that would be the best!
ReplyDeleteIt's really fantastic to see so much interest from a handful of really great companies out there in the blogosphere.
ReplyDeleteMy hats off to Dragon Forge for this give away.
Lots of city and ruin bases out there, but these are very well done. These resin bases would save alot of time using random basing materials for my blood angels!
ReplyDeleteWow. I could really use these bases for some upcoming projects.
ReplyDeleteThe Dragon forge stuff is great, I've been using the cables for a bunch of my ork stuff and they provide the detail I need.
ReplyDeleteAnd while I haven't used his bases, they do look good.
I've actually purchased and used a few dragon forge bases for my Marine Characters, superb product. Jeff has talent!
ReplyDeletethem dragon forge baces look craka lackin. simply awesome
ReplyDeleteAwesome stuff. I've had quite a few of these bases on my desk and certainly wouldn't mind more!
ReplyDeleteThese bases look really great! I'd love to mount one of my Ork HQ's on these bases!
ReplyDeleteThe bases look amazing keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThe same goes for you guys over at Santa Cruz!
These bases are gorgeous. I would love a chance to model with those.
ReplyDeletecomment.
ReplyDeletej/k :)
These bases really are bad ass, a friend of mine has used them.
I would love a chance to rock them out.
I wish I could afford to do a whole army with these bases. Their awesomeness could distract from my lack of paint skills.
ReplyDeleteBy far some of the cleanest resin bases out there, great sculpts too.
ReplyDeleteThat is an incredible looking Rough Rider!
ReplyDeleteI love the Dragonforge stuff. I bought two packs of the powercables for my Savlar Chemdogs penal troopers project and they were perfect!
ReplyDeleteI wish my LGS would carry these :(
ReplyDeleteAmazing. I'm buying a set of the Urban Rubble Wasteland right now - I've been looking everywhere online for something as high quality as this and I'm thrilled to finally find it!
